I think you are dealing with it now.Sounds like he doesn't need to come home and he is exactly where he needs to be. He could hurt you, other people and not mean to. Please get some emotional support for yourself. Does the facility where he is have any kind of support group for family members that have loved ones there? If not, do they know of any? Right now he is getting help, I am more worried about you.

Texarkana is right. I think it helps to learn as much about the condition as possible. You will learn what the condition is like and how to best cope as a family member.

Talking with others can give you some relief. You can benefit from talking to other women who have their husband in a facility. It's important to know you are not alone. Do you have family members to comfort you? It might be helpful to have a friend or family member go with you when you visit until your husband is no longer angry.

You might speak with the director of the secure facility where he is and see if you can discuss plans for his care. Being involved and informed can give you some comfort and sense of control. You say his cognition is good. Perhaps he may benefit from seeing a psychiatrist who is familiar with treating dementia patients. Sometimes medications can help with mood. I wish you both all the best.
