Perhaps a supra pubic catheter might work better as it is placed right above the belly button.
My late husband had a supra pubic catheter for the last 2 years of his life and only had about 3 UTI's in that 2 year period.
You can talk to dads urologist to see what they think about that.

My boyfriend takes cranberry pills. D-Mannose also works.

Is Dad using a catheter? If so, they cause UTIs. So to stop the UTIs you need to have the catheter removed.

If he is getting UTIs and not usung a catheter, using one won't help.

While in the hospital, make sure a culture is being done to find out what bacteria is causing the infection. Then he may need a couple of days of IV antibiotic. Then its preventing the infection. D-Mannose has been recommended on this forum. My Mom was on cranberry tablets and a probiotic. She had no more infections the last year of her life.
