Yesterday I saw a new Certified Diabetes Educator. She gave me her card and some literature. I need to contact her today. Her card and the papers are GONE. They are no where. I have looked and looked and double-checked that I didn't leave them in the car.

This reminds me so much of all the descriptions of persons with dementia losing something. It is frustrating for anyone, but can't you imagine how much worse it is for someone a little paranoid to start with? How frightening it would be if the world was starting to not make sense?

This really gives me empathy for the poor folks who are sure someone came in and just took their reading glasses or their deck of cards or an "important" paper. Sigh. I'm sure the same gremlins got my CDE card that keep taking Tupperware covers and socks.

Got any gremlins in your house?

My new thing is to walk into a room to do one thing, I see something else that needs to be done..end up doing 20 other things, then come out after neglecting the one thing I originally went in there for.

LOL... in my house I check out the cat's toy box... usually we can find small missing things there.

One time my sig other couldn't find his glasses... we searched and searched... good heavens where on earth did those glasses go. Later that day I was freshening up the litter box, and lo and behold there were in the glasses buried in the litter. Those who own a male Black Bombay breed of cat will understand :P

I lose my glasses and then I can't find them because I can't see. :(

Great thread, Jeanne! I definitely resemble these remarks, and firmly resolve to never become paranoid - unless they really ARE out to get me!

Life is very, very hard if you don't have all your brain power and wits about you. Hard enough even if you do.

OMGoodness yes! I loose things all the time...put them down, turn my head and poof gone! At least that is what it feels like. Scissors, pens, keys, earrings you name it.

Heloise once said that she thought lost socks went to live with baby Jesus. Maybe that's where it ALL goes...the divine nursery overflowing with infinite piles of socks, trinkets and what-nots

Yes, Jessie, I found the card logically enough in the case with my blood glucose monitor.

This kind of "loss" is frustrating and also funny. But I did want to make the serious point about how much more devastating these silly little misplacements must be to people who have dementia. More evidence that the world is a scary and unpredictable place.

That is so like me, BrendaLynn. The worst part is that I can go back to do the one thing, do 20 other things, then forget the one thing again.
