I'm having problems trying to get any information.

Find Care & Housing
Go to your local or county Veterans Administration office wiith his DD214. Make and appointment, call or walk in. Your Dad can be buried in a Veterans Cemetery at no cost. If his wife is still alive, she might (if he is rated) receive a monthly tax-free amount of around $1700. There's also ChampVA health insurance or Tricare. Aid and Attendance in-home care might also be available for a spouse. I am sorry for your loss.

This is really solid advice, and the local office is definitely the best place to start.
You should also make sure to bring a certified copy of his death certificate since they will need that to officially process any claims.

It is also a good idea to check if he had any life insurance policies through the military that are still active. You can check it at the VA's official website or the Prudential insurance portal.
My heart goes to you and your family. Sorry for your loss.
