My 77 year old husband has been showing signs for nearly 8 years. He is getting paranoid, angry, and violent. His memory has been faulty and is getting worse. Tests show his cognitive has declined. His brain mri is unremarkable. What do I do?

If he hits you or goesbon a rampsge call 911. When police get there tell them he needs to be Baker acted. They should take him to ER and then a Psychic ward or hospital for evaluation. This is whenyou tell them he can't come home, you arecafraid of him and are no longer able to care for him. Where he goes Memory care or Longterm care is up to your finances. You will need to see an Elder lawyer to split your assets. His dplit going towards your care. Once he is on Medicaid, you remain in your home, have a car and enough or all of your montly income to live on.

Yes, call 911 and send him to the hospital. Then insist that the doctors give him medications to calm him down. Don't let them discharge him until they have found the right combination. Do you feel like he should be in a memory care facility? If so, work on the arrangements for that while he's in the hospital, and have him taken directly there by medical transport. Your safety is important! Let us know how it goes.

Call 911 and send him to the hospital next time. Don’t tell him you are going to do it and don’t threaten it. Just calmly walk into another room and call.

Send him to the hospital for tests, including a UTI.
