My husband has recently become more antagonistic, especially toward my son, who is trying to help in any way he can. Husband accuses the two of us of ganging up on him, insists that I put son over him (I do not!) and is becoming more hostile toward both of us. How do I cope with this?

Thank you, cmagnum and babalou, for your welcome comments. We have just started with twice-a-week in-home care. At this point, it is mainly respite care, but that will increase over time. Thank you for your comments, which reassured me we are on the right track. Blessings to all who are dealing with this destructive disease.

If your husband has dementia, he can no longer reason properly. His broken brain sees this as two against one, the way a very small child might.

It sounds as though he may need some meds to calm him down, or a higher level of care.

Sounds like your husband's Alzheimer's has become more than you and your son can handle alone. What's the plan for the next step because it sounds like your in over your heads and close to drowning. That's not your fault. It's the nature of the disease.
