What is an ailing Dad to think following his wife's death?

To me he should be happy that the one child is there to help. :)

If the children stay away, there is a reason. Family dynamics develop over a lifetime. Sometimes old wounds run deep.

It is sad, but not uncommon.

If he has dementia he probably only "thinks" about the one child who he sees the most!
