I'm a 71 year old military widow with full benefits and barely more than a "low income" in monthly pensions. I'm self-sufficient and on such a strict diet that I cannot eat meals that a retirement community serves even if I could afford them. I drive. More often I bicycle or walk. I'm interested in doing rather than chatting. I'm fluent in Spanish and French as well as English. Are there any age-restricted complexes that charge $1,000/month or less for an 800+ sq. ft. apartment?

Thank you for your attention.

gelseni , oops, looks like someone edited my comment above and took out the website I had recommended. Anyway, go to Google and type in *apartments.com* and follow my above post.

Actually the VA should have some referrals for you, or HUD.

One way to start your search is going to apartments type in CA, and click on search..... when all the apartments are loaded, then go to the upper right hand of your screen and look for *Property type*.... then scroll down to *senior community* and then click on search. Hopefully you can find something nice that is near Chico.

As for retirement communities, check them as you might be surprised to find some that do offer strict diet menus.

Happy house/apartment hunting. Hope you find a good match :)
