Over night my 92 year old mother got nutty. Up and down off the bed, saying nutty stuff, trying to get dressed and then undressed. She was fine and coherent on Thur and then on Friday she was wacky. However, she is still as mean as she ever was (snd she has been my whole life). She is coherent enough to tell me I am no good, just like always. She takes a mood pill and an anxiety pill. Was to Dr last week, all was well

I would suspect a bladder infection. My mother always went off the rails when she had one. The symptoms come on quickly and continue to get worse without treatment. Mother tried to pull the fire alarm and call the police because she was being held hostage. She threw me out of her room accusing me of wanting her to die for her money. Call her doctor.

I would call her doctor immediately and report altered mental status. If you can't reach doctor, call 911. This really IS an emergency.

Sure everyone is correct. If the dipstick Ua comes back negative, have them do a real us.
Altered mental status is an emergency.
If not a Uti, be sure to find out what caused the behavior. Last night, I was feeling a little nutty, after staying in bed-just couldn't get up. Turns out today, I am coming down with the flu, complete with sore throat, chest congestion, runny nose, and nausea, faintness, weakness.
Akmomus-it could be anything, but start with infection, inflammation-anywhere. Or by now she has additional symptoms or the flu?
Let's not chalk it up to purely mental yet. The doctor will know.
Vote: Uti.

Would guess that scared you, right?
