Husband has never had a good appetite, but he is now wasting away. He will no longer take ensure. Just lies in his bed reading. He is angry with me all the time. I can't say a thing right. We have been together 25 years now. He sees no one. Will not come out.
If this is new behavior for your husband, then something new has happened/is happening with him.
What you most need to know is whether or not your husband is competent in his own decisions, and not suffering from stroke, dementia, electrolyte imbalances.
This means a call to EMS via 911 and transport to the hospital for an exam to make certain hubby isn't suffering from some new medical condition that can fix things.
Now if this is more or less hubby's norm, that's another case altogether, and you should just get on with your own life and let him live, and perhaps die, as he wishes.
You don't need a doctor to call them, as you can call the hospice agency of your choice and they will come out and do an assessment to see if he qualifies for their services. I bet he will.
Hospice will provide any needed equipment, supplies and medications, plus have a nurse come out once a week to check on your husband along with aides coming twice a week to bathe him, all covered 100% under your husbands Medicare. And they are available 24/7, so I would call them this afternoon.
