The lawyer for the father has been disappointing in action and in counsel. The mother has been damaged emotionally because some great valuables have been stolen from her and the father is suffering the consequence of the son stilling from the home and being accused of it by the mother, the father's wife. The son has been using drugs but seem to have made some changes in the use of drugs due to some behavior change; but the stealing has continued. The father has wondered if a mental evaulation of the son would be helpful if it was possible for that to happen.. What can be done in this situation.

Throw his sorry butt into Riker's Island by pressing charges in criminal court. Anything less simply enables him to continue his self-destruction. An addict won't change until he hits bottom. Been there. Done that.

Confront him. Document the theft and report to police. You can do nothing if both parents don't wish to pursue and prosecute or get their son help and set boundaries.
