Attorney Joel Weissler's goal in founding the Weissler Law Group, more than twenty years ago, was to touch client's lives by providing the highest level of legal representation in areas which make a difference for our clients and their families.
Estate Planning for Seniors - At the Weissler Law Group we understand that the Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney for older adults need to be different. When Attorneys draft Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney for young families they are preparing for unexpected disasters to provide a plan to take care of the survivors. In drafting estate planning documents for mature adults and senior seniors the focus shifts. We build in flexibility to deal with the challenges of aging and build in provisions to deal with both our older Client’s worries and priorities.
Long Term Care Planning - Our Clients have worked hard throughout their lifetimes. As Seniors they deserve respect and safety. No one should be required to give up all they have built and saved throughout their lifetime in order to get quality care when they are Seniors. Every Senior is threatened by rising in-home and residential care costs. Long term care and nursing home costs continue to rise without regard to housing values, interest rates or the stock market. Most families are hard pressed to pay extended long term care costs without wiping out savings and using up all of their home equity.
At Weissler Law Group, we help Seniors protect their assets and qualify for California and federal entitlements to pay for the care they need. We help Seniors, not just with comprehensive estate planning , but with tools to insure that their assets are protected and can be used to provide for their well spouse or passed to the next generation.
Experienced California Medi-Cal Attorneys - California's Medicare program, known as Medi-Cal, provides in-home and residential care as well as medical benefits to Seniors who qualify. Because of the enormous amount of money made available from the Federal Government to take care of California Seniors, the California legislature has preserved rules that make it possible for almost anyone with care needs to qualify for Medi-Cal benefits while preserving their family assets.
Veterans Benefit Dollars are Available to Pay for Home Care - If you served in the U.S. Armed Forces during a time of war and you need help with the necessities of life (such as cooking, eating, transferring, toileting, bathing, or are otherwise housebound or unable to drive) you are qualified for, or may become qualified for, a special pension for aid and attendance. This benefit does not require a service related injury. This special pension can pay substantial cash benefits to cover the in-home care costs for veterans and their surviving widows or widower's. If a Veteran does not arrange their affairs to qualify and does not apply during their lifetime this benefit is lost and cannot be claimed by their survivors. Attorney Weissler is VA Certified to represent Veterans.
