Mother has thrived at The Gardenias. The staff gently reminds her to come to meals if she has not shown up, and she appreciates the freedom to set her own hours. With her sundowning, she's really not been up for visits after about 3 pm - she's convinced she needs to grade papers. Since we no longer come at that time and interrupt her thoughts, she can stay in her room and rummage through her drawers reorganizing if she wants to. The staff has been fantastic at refocusing her efforts like this. I was reassured that this was the right place for her. I have two friends who are involved with a hospice, and they both have loved ones who have or do live here. Mother herself has regained her health after a big surgery, and I am so glad I have such fantastic people to trust with her care.
