SYNERGY HomeCare of Highlands County is owned by Felicia Coke, who worked as a physical therapist for 16 years and a geriatric care manager for five years before finally deciding to open her own business where she could put her caregiving skills to use for the benefit of her hometown of Lake Placid.
Felicia and her team of caregivers provide residents of Highlands County, which includes the communities of Avon Park, Lake Placid and Sebring with a range of services including companion care, personalized in-home assistance and specialized support for individuals managing chronic health conditions or recovering from illness or surgery.
Most of Felicia’s professional career has been on the skilled side of homecare, where she provided valuable hands-on physical therapy, while also meticulously coordinating care plans from a managerial position. Throughout her career, Felicia noticed that many of the clients she got to help were rehospitalized shortly after being discharged, due to a lack of proper care at home versus what they received in-facility. She decided to become the solution to this issue, instead of looking for change to come from elsewhere.
Growing up, Felicia was extremely well-connected to her hometown community. She played several sports, received community scholarships and graduated as a Salutatorian. Many of the older residents in Highlands County are Felicia’s former teachers, coaches, pastors and parents of friends and old classmates. To be able to provide care for those who played instrumental roles in her early life is not a responsibility that she takes lightly.
Felicia believes that providing care is a privilege, especially for the community that helped raise her. In her professional and personal life, she strives to offer everyone a chance to live a life full of play, fun, love and excitement. She embeds this philosophy in each of her caregivers, who all provide loving, joyful care, not because they need to, but because they want to.
SYNERGY HomeCare of Highlands County provides a wide range of non-medical care options. Companion care includes assistance with cooking, shopping, running errands, light housekeeping and other tasks that allow clients to live independently. Personal care assists with bathing, dressing, using the toilet and other activities of daily life.
