Cynthia, I am a past client
We hired Sheridan Care of Culver City when my father was about to be released from the hospital and they recommended them to us. 1. I specifically outlined my father's needs and the fact that he had a feeding tube. We asked for someone with experience in administering the tube. The weekend before he was released, they sent me at least six or seven people to interview, most of whom had no experience with a feeding tube. I barely had time to meet with that many people, and the interview was over as soon as I discovered that. I spent two full days with back to back appointments. 2. I specifically asked that the caregiver speak English. Three of them did not speak English intelligibly. 3. Sheridan claims that their caregivers have worked with them for a period of time and that they know them well. Not true. 4. One of the men they sent me, not only did not speak English, but he drooled when he talked. His mouth had foam coming from it. 5. One of the women they sent me was an hour late to the interview and brought her daughter. She explained to me that she did not have much experience with elderly or a g-tube, but worked primarily with mental health. That was a complete waste of my time and an extra hour because she was late. I was stunned. 6. I reiterated that I had asked for specific experience. And I asked them if they even knew the caregivers they were sending me. I was assured they were employees of Sheridan and had been with them for a while. 7. The case manager Lana, said she felt bad about my experience, and personally brought someone else to meet with me. When I inquired how much experience the caregiver had with Sheridan, he informed me -- directly in front of Lana -- that he had never met them before and this was his first encounter. They had just met prior to walking in the door. Lana was embarrassed, as she should have been. 8. They lied, wasted my time which was valuable since I was going back and forth to the hospital. 9. We did hire two people, one for the day and one for the night. I was told by the day person that she was pulled off another job to work with us since she did in fact have some of the correct experience. While she was very nice, I was never completely comfortable with her. But at that point I had no choice. 10. After one week, we found private care and did not work with Sheridan again. They sent me two different invoices with two different amounts. One of the invoices billed for extra time in 15 minute intervals when the caregivers stayed to brief the next shift, which we had not agreed upon. 11. I followed up with the case manager to resolve the billing issue, and my emails were not returned. 12. I got a nasty email from Susan Doss telling me that the case manager was the wrong person to contact, and I needed to pay my bill immediately. I had no idea who else to contact, she indicated it was my fault, and threatened that if I did not pay immediately, she would actually go to my 88 year-old father's room and demand payment. There was no way I was going to let her anywhere near my father. 10. I had to take time and go out of my way to fax both bills, completely contradictory, to find out the correct amount to pay. I finally talked the accounts payable person, whom I had never heard of before, and we agreed on an amount. My entire experience with Sheridan was stressful and made a difficult time more difficult. I was horrified by the people they sent to me and claimed they knew. I believe they are incompetent and lied.
