Originally from France, Sylvie Hutchings has lived in various cities around the United States. Several years ago, she settled in Chicago.
Sylvie cared for her father during and after his knee surgery. He passed away shortly after. Her mother was now alone after 60 years of marriage and Sylvie, who was living in the US, was unable to find someone who was willing to live with her mother for company. Her mother made the ultimate decision to join a retirement/nursing home. Based on her personal experiences caring for aging parents, Sylvie sees the opportunity to help residents who wish to age in their own homes, as well as active seniors who are looking for companionship and connections with those their own age. She sees a need for Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care services in the Chicago area
“I believe I can help make a difference in people’s lives who might want to make a change, or earn extra income as they struggle with the retirement,” Sylvie said. “Chicago is a city full of friendly and helpful people. I know a number of residents in the Chicago area who care and want to help others.”
Sylvie believes Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care services is a unique business model, and wants people to be aware that they have an alternative to live independently.
“It gets harder for older generations to care for themselves every day. I see in my own neighborhood, on my own block, families where children of my age or older are taking care of their aging parents,” Sylvie said. “There is undoubtedly a need for service providers in the area.”

Sylvie’s Background
Sylvie was born and raised in France and comes from a large family of seven children. In her late teens, she emigrated to the United States and has lived in various places before settling in Chicago. Prior to opening her Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care franchise, Sylvie worked to mitigate fraud in the banking industry and for E-commerce merchants. She is very active in the city, and enjoys attending a variety of social events. She loves to travel while visiting friends and family all over the world.

The caregivers from Seniors Helping Seniors provide wonderful companionship and care for my wife, who is experiencing memory loss. They are not just there to do a job. Each caregiver creates a relationship with her like a “best friend.” That personal companionship is as valuable as the physical care they provide. Sylvie is personally involved and very responsive to changing circumstances. I would highly recommended them!

My mom has been using the services of Seniors Helping Seniors of Chicago Metro for a few months now. There were insurance hoops to jump through at first for my mom's policy. The owner, a lovely woman from France, was always gracious and helpful whenever assistance was needed and I had to contact the insurance company. Now though, things are up and running smoothly. She is patient and always made time for my questions. Obviously, though--it's the care my mom receives that matters the most. And my mom has been very pleased with her helpers. I think she has a primary helper, but when there has been a sub--she has always liked them too. The owner has even helped show my mom what is out there to help her on a daily basis (she recently assisted my mom in getting another phone to help overcome her hearing issues.) It's so great knowing she's in good hands and getting what she needs!

Several months ago our family was introduced to Seniors Helping Seniors of Chicago. We were looking for caregiving for our elderly parents and were fortunate enough to meet Sylvie Hutchings and her staff member Rita. The orientation went well as Sylvie and Rita both came to meet our parents. From the moment we met them, I could see the compassion and care in their eyes. I knew this was going to be a perfect fit for us. Finding quality caregivers for your loved ones is a monumental task. We never thought we could find anyone to meet all of our criteria until we met Rita. She is a joy to be with, is compassionate and eager to help in every way.
