Our pairing process includes working with each family to understand what personality are desired in a caregiver. For the last 4 months I have had the good fortunate of having 24-hour care with Lilly’s Home Care. I am very pleased with the caregivers – they are very kind and attentive and always take good care of me. They also play with and walk my dog which I cannot do anymore. A few months ago I had the privilege of meeting Gillian (Gigi) Nel when she came to be my caregiver in the Houston Methodist Hospital following my back surgery. Meeting her was a “gold-star” day for me! Gigi is a caregiver ‘extraordinaire.’ While in the hospital she made me feel safe and secure, and I knew because of her presence I was receiving great care from her as well as the floor nurses. It was obvious to me the floor nurses had great respect for GiGi and her knowledge of proper care for hospital patients. GiGi anticipated my needs before I did – and even anticipated some I didn’t even know I had! I call her my “pillow whisperer” because she is excellent at positioning multiple pillows for her patient’s comfort! Fortunately GiGi was available to come to my home to continue my care. And, I have saved the best for last – not only is GiGi an excellent caregiver – she is a superb person – caring, loving, compassionate, kind, respectful, empathetic, joyful, fun, attentive – and every other trait of an outstanding human being. My life was blessed with meeting Gillian Nel. I will remember her always, and I will treasure her friendship forever.
