Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley

I would not recommend Life Care Center to anyone. They have a good activities program, therapy program, and food but the nursing staff is negligent and incompetent. My sister was only there 3 months before she passed away at age 58. To begin with they did not administer her daily meds in a way that she would take it. I was there every day during the week and had told many people that the best way to give her meds was to put it in something she would eat or drink. Several times afterwards, I went there in the early afternoon and find her morning meds still sitting on the cart because they didn’t take the extra step to mix it with something. Shortly after arriving there she started having problems with her liver due to the fact she wasn’t getting her meds consistently. She ended up being hospitalized twice for her liver. It finally got under control. Later on, that month she was sent to the ER because of a fall she had. She couldn't talk and was sent to the ER without someone to talk for her. She ended up getting treated for the wrong thing, was given anti-biotics and came down with C-Diff which causes severe diarrhea. She was released from the hospital and died 11 days later with all the symptoms of severe dehydration. When I brought up my concerns about dehydration it was dismissed because of a blood test. They did not take into consideration what her body had been through (14 days of diarrhea) or what it was going through. It is a clinical diagnosis.
