Originally we felt this place was great. The Harbor independent living appears to be a lovely facility, and we were promised great things. When we told them my mother was Type 1 diabetic with some memory issues and sometimes needs some assistance with her insulin pump, we were told that they were comfortable with helping her with an insulin pump when she needed it, which is why we chose the place. They reassured us of their willingness to help and their expertise with helping Type 1 diabetics. Apparently, LPL just told us what we wanted to hear in order to get our business. When my mom did begin to need regular assistance and had a temporary setback due to a short-term illness (she was still living independently but did need assistance with her medication/ insulin), they went back on their promises and just 3 months after she moved in, they abruptly gave us a 30 day notice and told us they would no longer help with her medication. They truly made promises they did not keep. Originally we felt this place was great. The Harbor independent living appears to be a lovely facility, and we were promised great things. They truly made promises they did not keep. They did not handle her situation with empathy or care, they did not listen to her family, they did not seek medical advice. They just told her to get out in 30 days. They will make it sound like you will be able to easily transition to the Bridge, assisted living if you need to, but just know that if you have any physical or cognitive trouble down the road, you will be asked to leave in 30 days, and there is actually usually a several months to a year long waiting list for assisted living facilities.

I am a current client
3 was chosen as to not to appear overly/angrily critical for Lake Pointe Landing! We paid over $3750/mo. rent for a Patio Home (duplex, about 1300 sq. ft.) in this area. Rates increase every year. For that we each have 13 meals/month. Food is promoted as 1st rate. In fact, it is probably C+ institutional food. From all outward appearances the property is well maintained and has the appearance of being totally upscale -- the first look by prospective residents. In any and all questions regarding facilities and/or areas of concern, Ms. Hood is counselor, prosecutor and judge. There is no avenue for questioning or dispute for the hundreds of residents who live here. I have come to the position that any and all areas of life where basic needs are at play must never be in a for-profit venue. Profiteering will always win -- at least financially.
