Last summer (2024) my husband was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a single mastectomy, which was successful. But, five days later he came down with sepsis and was rushed back to the hospital. There we were informed that he might never walk again. Following hospitalization, he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, and it was then that I began my research for home care. I found HomeWell Care Services, operated by Dr. Ines Eisner-Janowicz, whose agency was conveniently located in Lake Forest, Illinois not far from our home. Ines immediately understood our needs, arranged to meet me at home to assess our setup and discuss the best post-rehab plan. Then she visited my husband at the rehab center. As a medical doctor with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, her background and experience equaled her positive attitude and genuine warmth. We felt confident that we had found the right agency, and that Ines was the ideal person to manage my husband’s care. She organized the entire team—caregiver, PT, and OT. On the morning of discharge, Ines and the caregiver arrived at the rehab center to accompany us home and ease the transition. Within weeks my husband took first steps with a walker, and today he is completely independent—driving, back to work, walking with walker or cane, and life—once again—is back to normal, and great!

When my husband was ready to be discharged home from Whitehall Rehabilitation Center after recovering from sepsis, we needed homecare to help him fully recuperate and regain his strength and independence. I was referred to HomeWell Care Services in Lake Forest and spoke with the owner, Ines Eisner, MD, PhD, who immediately grasped our situation and offered a viable plan. I was impressed by her professionalism, knowledge, and sensitivity and felt like I was speaking with a personal friend. Ines visited my husband at rehab, and then met me at our home to inspect the setting and offer suggestions to facilitate recovery. On the morning of my husband's discharge, Ines met us at the Whitehall and introduced us to our lovely new caregiver, Noreen, whom I soon referred to as our "Guardian Angel." Noreen moved into our home for two weeks, assisting my husband with all of his needs on the road to full recovery while simultaneously helping me around the house. Rehabilitation impacts not only the patient, but the entire family. Noreen was invaluable, maintaining a very positive and cheerful attitude -- she was tireless and couldn't do enough. We will be sad to see her leave, but plan to stay in touch. I highly recommend this agency.
