There are so many logistics and emotions that go along with caring for a loved one with a chronic condition, whether you are across town or long distance. Alan and Tamera Mongin understand your concerns and that is why they decided to become owners of Crystal Lake home care serving McHenry and Lake counties serving northern Illinois. We bring life experience and professional history to this business so you can be at ease when choosing long-term care for your family.
We are Alan and Tamera Mongin, owners of Homewatch CareGivers serving Northwest Cook, McHenry, and Lake Counties in northern Illinois. We were fortunate to purchase an ongoing business that had established a great reputation for quality and concern for clients. The opportunity to help people as a vocation really appealed to both Alan and Tamera, who have participated and lead volunteer causes for many years.
Tamera says “we really connect with the Homewatch CareGivers mission. …to preserve dignity, protect independence, and provide peace of mind for our clients and their loved ones by providing exceptional home care.” Tamera has 14 years’ experience working for a large health care company, is a licensed Life and Health Insurance Broker, and a director for two non-profit entities. She has provided leadership, developed coursework and training programs for volunteers, and served the community as a resource for people experiencing difficult circumstances. Tamera is energized by helping clients and their families. “It is so rewarding to come alongside a family as a resource and solution for the cares and concerns they are experiencing with a loved one.”
Alan is a CPA and Partner at B2B CFO, he has about 30 years’ experience as a Financial Professional and is a director with several nonprofits. “I have a background of helping company owners reach their goals, including things beyond numbers on a Balance Sheet. Homewatch CareGivers is an opportunity to expand my reach and help families navigate difficult circumstances. One of my favorite things to do is check in on clients, it is so gratifying to hear family members thanking us. Often it is a spouse or child, the primary family caregiver, feeling the biggest impact from our services. Confident that a loved one is well cared for, the family caregiver can return to a more normal life and get the rest they need for their own wellbeing.
The Mongin family, has long participated in local and international missions, providing help to families in need. We have also experienced the declining health of a loved one personally. Alan’s dad, Tom lived in the Mongin family home his parents built, he was born there, raised a family and wanted to live his entire life there. He and his wife Joy saw the home as the hub of family activity, living at that home was very important to them. Tom had several stokes and likely Alzheimer's disease that resulted in dementia. The turmoil and heartache that goes along with his declining condition was devastating, particularly to Alan’s stepmother Joy, his primary caregiver. Having faced a family Care crisis from the client perspective firsthand, we know how hard it can be to manage and cope with chronic conditions, especially if you are long distance. We understand the emotions and the logistics of finding excellent reliable care for a loved one. We are committed to building this business by providing quality care and living by the principle of allowing our family to care for yours.
