I don't think I could have kept my husband at home as long as I did without hiring Help and Care. They sent a fantastic caregiver that we have had for almost a year now. She has been a lifesaver! I was able to leave the house and get a break for a few afternoons a week because my husband quickly grew to trust the caregiver. She would take my husband to volunteer activities, take walks with him, play board games and even help prepare his dinner. I could really relax and enjoy my time away when she was there. If there were any changes in my husband's health or behavior she would let me know right away. Sometimes she saw things I didn't, which helped me better take care of him as well.

I hired Help and Care to assist caring for my husband, who has Alzhiemer's. They sent an appropriate caregiver who understands the needs of a dementia patient. His manner with my husband is very caring and very affirming. He laughs at my husband's jokes and will occasionally put his hand on my husband's arm or shoulder to reassure him. There is also a great companionship between the two as they discuss the news together do puzzles and play games. Every morning once breakfast is over my husband will ask hopefully if the caregiver is coming that day. He is truly exceptional and we have had him with us for over a year.

The caregiver they sent is one of those rare people who combines high degrees of professionalism, warmth, sincerity, competence and patience. While my father has advanced dementia, she was very respectful of his feelings and dignity. Her presence alone is very reassuring and have entrusted her to accompany him to doctor's appointments. Even when no family member is available the doctors and medical staff have expressed how impressed and pleased they are with the caregiver. Her very fine qualities as a delightful individual and completely dependable caregiver make us aware of how fortunate we are for her to be there caring and helping her own father in this most difficult time of his life. Even my father's cat agrees she's the best caregiver!
