Healthy Living Transitions of Grand Island has been providing home care services for my mother for two weeks now and so far everything is running smoothly. My mother does have favorites and a few caregivers she enjoys being around more. I was able to share with the owner my concern about my mother sitting around and not getting exercises. The owner will be speaking with the caregivers so that daily exercises are accommodated.

The staff at Healthy Living Transitions of Grand Island provided fabulous home health aide to my mom. We had no idea how to select a home aide but they assured us they have a wonderful staff and that was an understatement. They provided our mother the opportunity to spend her final moments in her home which we could not have done without their assistance. Healthy Living Transitions has our gratitude and we would highly recommend their services.

It's almost a year since I returned to my home after two months of rehab for a hip replacement and wrist fracture. The assistance I've received from Healthy Living Transitions of Grand Island has been key to my recovery and, at this time, ability to function just about as well as before my traumatic fall. I received personal care initially, and now, assistance with household tasks I'm no longer able to perform, as well as shopping, driving, companionship--whatever was needed. Linda, Andrea, Joanna, and all those They've sent to help me, have been lovely, caring, talented, interesting companions. At this time I want you to know what a good experience it has been for me, and also to tell you that I expect and plan that our relationship will continue indefinitely.

I would never recommend Healthy Living Transitions, Inc. of Grand Island agency. They did show up and did the housework, which is the only good thing I could say about them. My 82 year old husband, Hal, was not mentally incapacitated in any way. He had progressed peripheral neuropathy, resulting in balance issues, but he could get around with his cane. He was tired though, and given up driving. The agency was hired for about a week to come in for 5 hours daily to do light housekeeping, to shop and prepare food (or to get taken out at his request). He wanted a female provider. We were informed there was insufficient female staff for that option, so a registered nurse alternated with a gentleman whom we were told "loved to cook," and was practically a "chef." My flight was cancelled on the day of my departure due to storms in NY City, and when the gentleman picked me up at the airport (appreciated) he indicated he "found the salmon" in the refrigerator, otherwise there was "no food." There were basic staples in the house, but they had been hired to shop. Hal liked fresh food. I was puzzled because I had no salmon, and what the gentleman found was smoked salmon from Nova Scotia, which he'd placed in a casserole and doused with olive oil. I should have cancelled my trip then. I took Hal out to eat. Over the course of the trip, my husband told me he was miserable. The nurse (he did not need a nurse) told him upfront she didn't cook. He told me she talked non-stop at him and he could hardly wait until she left. He told me the gentleman couldn't sit still and kept asking for household repair tasks to complete. What he did not do was to start the car daily with the automatic started (the battery was dead when I got home), or use the plow to clear our driveway, which Hal said he offered to do daily, but never actually did. Hal said that unless he got takeout or took the caregiver out to eat, most of his food was Wegman's roasted chicken. (Chicken is fine, but not every night!) A very unhappy experience.
Response From Healthy Living Transitions, Inc.
Catherine, I was surprised to hear from you a year following our caring for Hal during your Winter get away. I would have wanted to hear from you while we were with Hal to better understand his needs. Since you contacted us with short notice , I explained I could provide service with the caregivers who were available for the week you were to be away. We were happy to accommodate you. Diane and Tony did all of what both you and Hal requested and then some . Tony shoveled, used the snow blower several times. Hal had a list of projects and repairs which were all done. Diane prepared meals and ordered take out when Hal requested, she shopped and provided great conversation which Hal seemed to enjoy. We have always been committed to providing the best service and remain loyal to superb care.

We've had our in-home care giver for just over a month now and are delighted. The owner of Healthy Living Transitions of Grand Island has been helpful, pleasant and professional. The in-home care giver has been great company for my mom. She is always prompt, pleasant, patient and is looked forward to by both my mother and me. I would gladly recommend this agency to anyone looking for respite care for their loved ones.
