Mike Griffin, Owner & Director of Care

A native North Carolinian, Mike grew up in Fayetteville, where he was influenced by his mother's example of compassionate care as a nurse at the local VA Hospital and as a caregiver for family members in need. Mike became interested in Griswold Home Care out of a desire to make a difference in the lives of the growing senior population. He appreciates the company's history with elder care and its commitment to excellence – a commitment he brings to the Wilmington area.

Our clients appreciate Mike's dedication, willingness to go the extra mile, and up-front communication. He enjoys racquetball, working out, time with family, reading, and good coffee.

Dorothy Griffin, Owner & Community Liaison

A Wilmingtonian of over 20 years, though a Nebraska Cornhusker by birth, Dorothy brings to Griswold Home Care a heart for families and a passion for helping them thrive in the place they love — their homes. She appreciates the gift caregivers were to her own family when her father was on hospice.

Dorothy came to Wilmington to work with children and families through the Yahweh Center. She and Mike have opened their own home to children in foster care and mentored couples preparing for marriage. They are members of Christ Community Church. Dorothy enjoys writing, historical fiction, walks on the beach, being outdoors, family time and dark chocolate.

DJ Phelps, Care Recruitment Director

DJ brings to our office his strong customer service background, genuine interest in others, and unquestionable integrity. He enjoys the opportunity to offer seniors choices that allow them to age with dignity as care needs change. He knows firsthand the challenges involved in senior care transitions and the importance of facing those challenges with patience and respect.

DJ spent most of his growing up years in Tennessee and Georgia, graduating from Berry College with a BS in Business Administration. Wilmington, NC, has been his home since 2003 when he relocated here with his wife, Sherry. They are the parents of three young boys.

Our clients appreciate DJ's commitment to excellence, genuine compassion, and calm demeanor. DJ enjoys spending time at the beach with his family, all things technology-related, local restaurants, video games, and counting down the days until the next good Star Wars movie.

Theo Hinckley, Registered Nurse Supervisor

Theo comes to us from Maine where she served the seniors in her community as Director of a non-profit home health company. She traces her love for working with the elderly back to her childhood relationship with her grandmother. "I took any chance I could to spend time with my grandmother," she explains. This passion has resulted in over 30 years of nursing care, primarily with seniors.

Theo is very involved with her family which includes six children, nine grandchildren and her husband. In her free time she enjoys walking and sailing.
