Hello, I’m Karen Vassar, independent owner and operator of Griswold Home Care of Leesburg-Manassas-Woodbridge Virginia. My office team and I are committed to ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of customer service.

After a long and successful career in the executive search industry, I chose to turn my attention to the astounding number of individuals turning 65 on a daily basis — and the overriding desire of most to remain in their home as they age. With time, whether it be a serious illness or a temporary rehabilitation period for which personal assistance is needed, the care of these individuals often falls to an adult child with an existing full slate of responsibilities. I began to explore how non-medical home care could be provided by a referred caregiver in the comfort of an individual’s home while offering respite to family members and the peace of mind that their loved one is receiving valuable care and companionship.

Having lived in Northern VA since 1979, I have a deep appreciation for the diversity of people, places and resources that exist across the region. With numerous organizations addressing the need for non-medical care, I had a range of options to consider when contemplating a home care business of my own. In short order I selected Griswold Home Care as the company to which I wanted to attach my name. That decision rested largely on what I had learned about the company’s founder, Dr. Jean Griswold, who in 1982 formed a grassroots registry of competent, compassionate individuals to provide 24-hour service to the elderly, disabled and at-risk individuals. For over 30 years Griswold Home Care has continued to refer caregivers that provide high quality non-medical home care.

I recognize that each and every family has unique circumstances and challenges when searching for care and that it’s often a stressful time for all concerned. I personally meet with each and every client in a free in-home care visit to discuss their needs/desires and discuss the unique Griswold model of home care. My experience in executive search called for strong interpersonal skills, an ability to listen, and a strong client service orientation all of which are key underpinnings of Griswold Home Care Leesburg, Manassas, Woodbridge. Building relationships of trust with clients and their families and referring the caregiver best suited for each and every situation before we refer them is what my office staff and I do best.
