I'm am sorry to say BrightStar was a major disappointment to say the least. I contacted them on a recommendation. I asked for a higher level of care for my 98 year old father. He has congestive heart failure and was admitted to the hospital for high CO2 retention. I needed care similar to a nurse to monitor his vitals and care for him when he was released from the hospital. He previously has had caretakers that helped him with daily tasks; bathroom, dressing, getting to meals, etc. They were fantastic, but I wanted a higher level of care. I asked BrightStar for nursing level care. I had to be out of town when he was released from the hospital so I needed care I could trust. I received a call from the staff at the assisted living home that my dad was having issues; confusion, diarrhea and a bit combative; all common with high CO2 levels and the elderly. The caregiver from BrightStar refused to help him to the bathroom, dress him, help him to meals or take care of him in any way, she insisted she was hired only as a companion. This person actually walked off the job and left my father without any care. Thankfully, the staff at the assisted living stepped in and took care of him. I heard from the staff that BrightStar refused to come back and care for him. I NEVER received a call from BrightStar informing me of any issues, and would never have known there was a problem if not for the assisted living staff.
