My mother was a resident here for about 2 years. I would NOT recommend to any family that is looking for a caring place for a family member. With the exception of a couple of staff members (only reason I'm giving 2 stars), most of the staff have very poor attitudes and are uncaring. I have overheard the way they talk to residents' while in another room, the lack of respect is pathetic! For the fees you pay, you should get more care and respect! Even a physician staff member here told me she is so disillusioned with what she has often witnessed. Other family members of other residents have felt the same way and also shared their concerns to me. They will tell you that a staff member is always present on each floor, 24/7, but I have personally observed times, especially weekends, when an entire floor is left alone for a period of time. This is unsafe. Also, at times residents' don't get help with things like cutting their food, because the staff is too busy with their phones and in another part of the dining room. I saw a man go without dinner one night after waiting so long to be served and after others were fed, he just got so frustrated he gave up. That was someone's parent that was going to have to go to bed that night without a nourishing meal. Management does not set a good example of a caring attitude. They are aware of the staff attitude issues, but do nothing to resolve them. They are tolerated at Bellingham. Fancy decor does not equate to good care.
