Kap Kumar and Jo Gurbani, the owners of Amada Senior Care of Lexington-Lincoln, view their role as part of a larger commitment to our population of cherished seniors in Lexington, Lincoln, Waltham, and many other communities just outside Boston MetroWest.
Says Kap, “Senior care captured our hearts deeply because of our personal experiences of losing our parents early in life and not being able to be with them or care for them in the way they needed during their final years.”
Parents themselves of two sons, Kap and Jo were building their careers and raising a young family. Like many of their peers in the “sandwich generation,” they were pulled in many directions trying to juggle career, childcare, aging parents, and other family commitments.
Kap, a cancer researcher, and Jo, an accountant, are driven by a shared desire to use their time on this earth in service of others. Kap has devoted his professional life of 28-plus years to oncology research and drug and therapy development.
Their mission and that of the entire professional care team at Amada Lexington-Lincoln is to make life easier for the sandwich generation by helping families reduce their emotional strain and financial stress, and by providing reliable, trusted, and high-quality support for their aging loved ones.
“The pain of not being there enough for our own parents has become a powerful calling to devote our energy, skills, and hearts to caring for elders in our community, so that other families don’t have to live with the same guilt and remorse,” says Kap.
Says Kap, “This is not a career path. This is our life’s mission.”
