One of the most difficult challenges to face when aging is losing your ability to remain independent and vital. Many of us have spent our life caring for others and now we find ourselves in the position of needing care. While family is a very important Factor in this transition it can be both draining and difficult on the relationship between the parent and the caregiver . For me finding that perfect fit was paramount in my decision to hire an outside caretaker. I contacted Stay at Home of Fort Myers and a couple of other similar companies. when I met AJ, the owner of stay at home in Fort Myers I immediately knew that I was in good hands. In this young man I saw a genuine understanding and compassion of what the elderly have to deal with , and he assured me that we would find that special someone who would allow me to live as independently as possible and with dignity. AJ was true to his word and he personally is always available to answer any questions or take care of any needs that I may have. Stay at Home of Lee County is the best thing that has ever happened to myself and my parents. This is a very long story so I will try to consolidate it but feel free to e-mail or call me for more details. I have 2 parents both with long term illnesses. One with Alzheimer's, One with Dementia. In the beginning, it's fine to just have caregivers come in for a few hours but when they were BOTH put under Hospice Care 2 years ago, the agencies out there that I was using were no longer able to cope. The one I had before Hospice was reliable but when I needed resources or different caregivers, couldn't get them. The next one, fired me saying it was too hard for the caregivers when at this point I had 4 family members here full time also. The third promised the world and then every day, someone else showed up or didn't even show up. I work full-time, my parents don't even want to live this way but will all the family that lives here we still need GOOD, QUALITY help that comes on time and ACTUALLY CARES. All the Home Health Agencies out there will say they CARE but A.J. Canfield and his staff and organization is by far the absolute best. They take the guess work out of your day. They take the time to listen(the others made you feel that way) and THEY PROVIDE RESULTS. Bottom line is they really care about your circumstances so they can help you get through what is the most difficult time in your life as a caregiver. Their caregivers are the best because Stay at Home demands the best.

Stay at Home of Lee County was very easy to work with. A.J. came to my home and explained how the program worked. He understood my husbands problems and was very sensitive to my Husbands needs. The aide he provided was very professional . She was dependable and stayed with us until he needed to be hospitalized. I couldn't have been more pleased at the way she took over and became my husbands best friend. He did what was needed to coordinate with my Long Term Care insurance . During my husbands nursing home stay she took care of my needs as well. I could not have managed without her help and Stay at Homes co-operation. I would easily recommend Stay at Home to anyone needing home care.
