Located on gentle slopes that once formed part of William Penn's manor of Springettsbury, Mount Rose Cemetery reflects the same serene beauty today that was admired by the early settlers of York, Pennsylvania, two centuries ago.
The cemetery grounds are under the constant attention of skillful landscape artists. There are thousands of evergreens, including arborvitae, Austrian pine, Scotch pine, Douglas fir, Blue spruce, yews and boxwood. Trees such as Pin oaks, forsythias, double blossom Japanese cherry trees, blossoming crab apple trees, azaleas and spireas dot the 100-acre tract, warmed by beds of roses, marigolds and various other colorful annuals.
Twenty acres of the 100-acre tract are still available for development. Garden of the Cross, our newest section, offers traditional burial along with lawn crypts and mausoleum entombment. Lawn crypts provide the dignity of traditional burial along with the advantages of crypt burial. Mausoleum entombment offers above ground burial. The cemetery has a large garden crypt building as well as the Keystone Chapel Mausoleum. The cemetery's Chapel of Memories is one of the few above ground columbaria for cremated remains in the York area.
