Jan Neal, graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from Auburn University in 1973; graduated with a J.D. from Jones Law School in 1988; member of the Alabama State Bar, charter member of the Elderlaw Section; member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; author of The Alabama Medicare Map and Piecing It All Together, A Handbook for Caregivers and Long-term Care: Scan the Options; authored Alabama’s first Medicaid Income Qualifying Trust (1994) which made it possible to obtain Medicaid eligibility in Alabama for long-term care regardless of income; formerly served as one of the state’s first Long-term Care Ombudsmen (1985); state-wide speaker to legal, medical, social work professionals, lay and professional caregivers and seniors concerning issues affecting older persons.
