My rating is below one star. Both my parents lived at Carlton Plaza. A few months after moving in, my mom became a resident in the Memory Care Unit and was only there for a short time. During her first week in the Memory Care Unit, she had a fall which required a doctor visit for a black eye and abrasion above her eye. On a later occasion, when a family member arrived to visit her, she could not be found. When she was located, she was found naked in a male resident’s room in the closet. We immediately began to look into relocating my mother. It was only after we had relocated her, that we discovered during a doctor visit for symptoms my mom began to have during her stay in Carlton Plaza Memory Care that she had contracted a sexually transmitted disease. Many years later, my dad had an overnight stay (total of only 9 hours) in that same Memory Care unit. When I arrived in the morning, I found him soaking wet all the way through to the bed, blood on the wall and floor adjacent to his bed. I determined it was his blood from an injury sustained from an unwitnessed fall that occurred during the night. I was never informed of the incident when it occurred, or the next morning when I arrived. I personally discovered the injury with the help of a caregiver. While Carlton Plaza does have some good caregivers, there are simply not enough of them to keep residents safe. I would never recommend Carlton Plaza Memory Care unit to anyone.
