They (corporate, Atria is part of Ventas, a publicly traded corporation) kept jumping the rent each year by 5-7%. When my mother moved in five years ago, it was $3750 ... now, $5300. Also, people are in independent living who should be in assisted living. Combine that with the fall off in service and food quality, and my mother had enough. She moved out this month, to a cheaper and more independent apartment community. Atria was okay a few years ago, but has gone downhill since.

We just had to take my mom out of the Atria /south Setauket because basically she got kicked out because they could not take care of all of her needs, so that was a little bit disappointing for the... read more
