I’m not dealing with dementia in my family as of yet, but for years now I’ve quietly cringed anyway when people say “I’ll never forget the time......” I know it’s likely silly and overreacting, but I always quickly think of those with dementia, they thought they’d always remember the time too
I think it really depends on the situation the word is used in. Like, I never would have asked my mother why she couldn’t remember who I was. But I’d often say, “Remember when you were a little girl and you used to go to the farm for fresh eggs and cream and butter?”
