Just wanted to say, "thank you" for the advice and comments regarding my mom and possibly evacuating because of a tropical storm/hurricane.

While I could handle an evacuation,or even staying through a Cat 2 storm, I was not sure of the new "this is not our house" behavior she displays when we go out to dinner, etc.

Have spoken to her PCP, and got OK to increase the dose of her anti-anxiety medicine under these circumstances.

A professional electrician is coming next week to look over the wiring and suggest what kind of generator might work for us. I want to power 'frig, one or two lights, radio, fan and TV. ( I am not comfortable at guessing, and want a professional opinion. I am not looking forward to the shrieks of dismay from my siblings at the expense.) That may allow us to stay instead of evacuating.

Foleydaughter, I can't imagine what people go through when a huge storm is heading their way. It's always a roll of the dice whether to hunker down in place, or to make a run for it.
