I have been so busy with work and visiting my husband in AL! I’ve just read all of your ideas, suggestions and words of support and encouragement. Thank you! Thank you! Knowing that I am not alone has brought me so much peace. It has been four weeks now and he still hates it. He continues to have his meals delivered and complains because the food is cold. He is also drinking more and has fallen twice. Meeting with the director tomorrow to discuss ideas or solutions. My guilt has diminished somewhat and the sadness is now filling my heart. He sends me these sad, lonely messages and hurts so much. I feel sad for him. His messages are all about HIM, and I have to understand the illness is professing itself. Again, thank you and I am deeply grateful for this resource.

Glad the forum has helped you. You mentioned your husband is drinking-alcohol? I hope not. Too risky for elderly people, negative or potentially dangerous interaction with medications or as you've written falls. I'd be surprised he's allowed to drink anything stronger than coffee. Perhaps look at his messages once a day, when you're feeling up to it. Before meeting with the director, write down your concerns and questions. Helps to keep your meeting productive for you.
