For all of those carers considering installing an expensive walk-in tub for the safety of their loved one, I wanted you to know there is another, much cheaper option. There are companies that will cut a small section out of the front of the bathtub and seal it off so there is no more climbing over the tub wall to get in and then they just sit on a shower seat! Did this for my dad and it has made it so much easier and safer!

Sounds good. I almost bought one but then realized after they walk in they have to sit & wait for it to fill after the door is closed, then have to wait again for it to drain so they can get out. My mother would’ve been so cold even with a towel plus she wouldn’t have had any patience for that!

Great to know!

We remodeled the bathrooms in parents' house, and when we made the walk-in shower, we also put a bathtub faucet low on the wall to enable someone to have access to just plain running water if showers weren't even feasible.
