Ditto to what funkygrandma59 replied. Especially if your LO has any sort of cognitive impairment, do not assume the rehab facility is doing anything other than PT and OT (like hygiene, making sure he's drinking/eating enough, etc).

Make sure you have a very well-thought out plan for his care after discharge, like whether you are up for doing it all or whether you'll need help for a while. If your house has stairs to get in and out, if it's one-level living inside, etc. Even how you will get him from the car and into the house when he first gets home. Does the bathroom accommodate his condition or will he need a in-room commode, etc. Special diet, a hospital bed, etc.

The best thing you can do for your spouse while they're in rehab is to make sure that you personally are there when any kind of OT or PT are supposed to take place to make sure that in fact it's being done, as often if family members aren't there to witness, patients can slip throught the cracks and be neglected/ignored.
