My husband has FTD and we are having PT come for ambulatory assistance, safety, etc. The PT that was here showed me how to make a walker into a side rail for the bed that I think others would find helpful. Take a walker that the sides fold in. FOLD in one side and leave the other out as normal. Take the one that is out for normal use and place between the mattress and the box spring. Put the rubber stopper feet toward the foot end. Make sure you fold in the side that would be appropriate for the feet to face the foot of the bed. It is really steady and works well. The folded over side would be the side rail. Never would have thought of this. Thought this would be helpful to all facing falls from the bed.
