way - How did the cleaning out and dealing with mil's stuff go? It can't have been easy. (((((hugs))))

I had a whole lot of plastic bags saved from the grocery store . I would line my bathroom trash cans with them . But my stockpile is low now since I’ve been bringing my reusables for shopping .

My husband hates the paper straws in restaurants .

Yeah some stores were ridiculous with handing out bags, Walmart in particular used to double bag everything, often even single light weight items. Back in the 90's we used to have bags full of bags that we sent out to recycling every week, now our municipal program says they won't even take them because there is no market for them.

I do think without the plastic grocery bags, there is less trash on the sides of the road, you would see them floating all over the place

I don't mind not having plastic bags to pack my groceries. I use cloth ones too and keep some in the car. It just seems a bit hypocritical, but I guess they have to do what they can or be seen to do what's politically correct.

Hm yeah, I've been plastic bag free for so long I can't remember. I usually keep a small foldable bag on me whenever I leave the house and I keep several reusable bags in my car, but when I get groceries I prefer to use bins (it's so much faster than bagging)
We need to pay for paper bags Hothouse so I wouldn't welcome doubling up!

living In the Bay Area I became used to no bags years ago. When we went to Hawaii a few months ago, Safeway actually double bagged their paper bags! Such luxury. 😁

Just a funny story, NYS doesn't do plastic bags, im use to it, doesn't bother me. When we go away , people at the registers of the states that have plastic, look at me so odd when I just pile everything in my arms. One said something, don't you want a bag, I was like, oh good idea. He looked at me like I had some major issues. 😂.

Oh gosh, Way. That was uncalled for and unkind.. Like the superstars that used to travel to Fort Mc in their private jets and criticize the oil sands for environmental issues. Or no plastic bags at grocery check-outs, but lots of items wrapped in lots of plastic. Yeah, right. Gimme a break!!!

Waytomisery also which is better, throwing away paper, or using more water to wash the dishes, and soap going in the ground.

Some things I do absolutely agree with, I think we use to much plastic, but other things like paper plates . Yeah no felling guilt about that one!

An observation nothing to do with caregiving. My daughter in law made a comment on Mother’s Day because occasionally when my kids are over , I’ll be lazy and get out paper plates . She said she doesn’t use paper plates because of the environment . Mind you we had driven back home that morning from NY after cleaning out my recently deceased MIL’s belongings the day before . We ordered and picked up Italian food when we got home .

However , this week my son and DIL are away and I’ve been going over to feed her cats . Nearly everyday a box arrives from online shopping . Last I checked boxes were basically made of paper . The jet fuel burned to get her to her vacation destination is not good for the environment either . 🙄🤔🤷‍♀️

Daisy, Nice to hear about your upcoming trip. You must be so excited.

I had planned to go on an Ireland/Scotland cruise last month but the ship had to go into dry dock and Princess altered the cruise itinerary and we cancelled. I was so disappointed. But I plan to get there eventually,

A belated Happy Mother's Day to all on this forum who are mothers in one form or another. This year was the first one for me without my mother which is a milestone in one's life. I had a really nice day but did think of her often.

Happy Mother's day to you Golden, you are a mother to many on this forum! 💐💐

And Happy mother's Day to all women, with children or not, because we all become mothers to someone, in some way shape or form. Not to forget the furry children in are lives

I didn't see my kids, but I did hear from them. My oldest called me, busy with his sweet family, one is in Texas , one went away to see his fiance gma, one got late, and couldn't get away, because he was on a boat, I left moms then he finally showed but he called and actually spent a few hours with mom, so that made me happy.

The joy of time zones, local summer time etc. Yesterday, mother’s day, a daughter phoned just as we started dinner. “Can we call you back in half an hour?”. “No, then WE will just be starting dinner”.

I had a great idea today, have you all heard of some insurance company, putting a box in your car , that tells the insurance company, how well your driving, so your insurance is cheaper. I'm not exactly sure how it works, I know if my neighbor drives during the night, it goes up because it's a high risk time to drive.

So why not maybe kids that want there parts to quit driving find away to put them on this type of insurance then they can keep track of there driving.

Not a perfect plan but it has possiblity for some parents.

Sendshelp I here ya!!!

BTW, what was on the news yesterday? Lol.

The News is a crazy fantasy, full of propaganda, and confusing if you believe a word they say.

I practice restraint by not watching at all.
My friends will let me know what is happening, and I appreciate that.

Then, there is email. A correspondent said she should send me a photo of what happened the day before. I wrote to say, yes, send that photo.
She writes back, to remind her of what photo?

No reply necessary.

Trying to get a hold of what's left of my mind. If I say something here at home, the reply is: "No it's not". Or a correction that I have said the wrong word, not the right word for what dH uses. It is frustrating, end of my rope sort of thing.

LOL Send. I was watching the news yesterday and had to blow off a little steam. I think I showed great restraint.

A ray of hope from me to anyone else with a breast cancer scare. It wasn’t! My ribs stick out next to my depressed sternum (scoliosis again) and there was a bit of wobbly breast tissue on top of one. I was so upset by the prospect of 1500 kms to surgery and a hotel stay, not to mention the health side of it, and I’m so glad it wasn’t needed.
