My mother is very thin with large bony hips and thin tailbone, need some type of underwear with good memory foam that comes out to launder. I am so worried of pressure sores. Would appreciate any good suggestions.

Hope the sweats work out, helping! Just a note that the grey ones are really light in colour, so the padding is a lot more obvious. This might bother a wearer's vanity! (Mom is fine with them, though.)

Thanks so much to everyone for ideas, I really like Dorianne's suggestion of the sweatpants with padding, she is wearing sweatpants all the time now anyway, day and night. Also alternating air pressure mattress good idea, thanks to all!

Midkid - pretty sure KK's padding has been surgically implanted, lol.

I would be snarky and say whatever Kin Kardashian is wearing looks pretty padded--in honesty, they do make "underwear" that has padding in the hips and butt areas to give some shape. They may be hard to put on. I certainly never have this problem, my padding goes with me everywhere!

Google "padded underwear" or padded "shapewear". That should be a good jumping off point.

Does it have to be underwear? I've been buying these pants for my mom online. Just the hip protectors for mom, but you can get them with tailbone padding, and also you can get them in regular or petite length, and with or without cuffed ankle.

I buy mom petite, without cuffed ankle - they look like regular stretchy pants.....they look better in real life than in the photo! Not so baggy-looking. Mom loves them - she wears them as pajama pants as well as daytime pants.  Plus the pants make it much easier for mom and for me/home support to manage clothing changes, incontinence underwear, and bathroom visits than with the hip protector underwear (we tried them - they fit snug and are awkward for mom to pull up and down, while the pants fit more loosely and are just as easy for her as sweatpants).

Anyway, if you still prefer the underwear, they also have it, with or without tailbone padding:

PS - I've laundered these padded items probably a hundred times each by now, and they're still in excellent shape.

In my mom's nh, they used an alternating air pressure mattress on her bed and a special cushion, similar to a Roho cushion on her wheelchair.

Her doctor should write scripts for these as Durable Medical equipment, so that 80% will be paid for by Medicare.
