My father recently passed away and lead my mom to believe she could survive off of their investments. My father was a financial planner and careful with his money, although he lost half of their retirement in the market - he still told me that he had a lot left to help with mom's care. Some person in the business was left in charge of helping my mom figure out their finances and she is left with a small life insurance policy and only a small amount of stocks and bonds that won't even pay for his funeral. Is there anyway to check on what he may have owned and if anyone has liquidated his portfolio?
