I just wanted to say how helpful this Site was to mom & I.

I lost mom on May 19th @1:20 pm it was the hardest thing I have ever done , I haven’t been able to write until now in the month before she passed away we went to ER 4 times on the ride to the hospital mom leaned on my shoulder and she spoke in Apache to me and said son I’m tired let me go now. I didn’t reply I just hugged her in the ER. They did some tests admitted her. While we were in her room she motioned me over and said I love you son. I said I love you mom and it was over. My life will never be the same.

thank you all

Wylee, so sorry for your loss.
It is one of the most difficult things we go through in this life. I know.
I will keep you in my prayers.
God can heal all hurts, and give us strength and comfort.

My late MIL suffered a massive stroke several days after a surgical procedure and passed away on the same day 39 years later to when she lost her husband. She could hear us but couldn't really speak.

I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your mom. It is heartening to hear how you each said I love you before she passed.

It will forever change you but just try to keep thinking of the happy memories you had with her. Hugs!

Wylee, thank you for sharing these poignant last moments with your mother.   I think she had insights that guided her last days and moments, insights that show strength and recognition of life.

Your life won't be the same without her, but it also won't be the same because of what I suspect you learned from this wise woman throughout your life.    Think of those aspects, of the life you shared, of what you learned from her, and focus on those benefits and insights.

Are you in contact with other Apaches or Native Americans in general?   If so, I think it might be helpful to continue your bonds with them throughout this tumultuous period.   They'll offer strength; they deal with life and death differently from whites, and are much more practical and realistic.

I do wish you peace as you travel this new journey.

Wylee,

It's so hard to lose someone you love so much. You are right: losing them changes you forever. Wishing you peace and comfort in your dear mom's memory.

I’m sorry about the loss of your dear mother. Hugs!

Your life won’t be as it was before but I feel she would want you to be at peace.

It will get easier. Take time to mourn. She knew you loved her. She will live in your heart forever.
