My Mom just passed away on January 27, 2011. I took care of her for 4 1/2 years in my home. I also have a husband and three boys. She had emphysema and every year it got a little worse. It was hard but I am so grateful to have these last years with her. This website was very helpful and made me realize I was not alone in this journey.I appreciate all the advice given, and if anyone needs advice on caregiving or copd, Id be glad to try and help. Thank you

Hi Donna,
My Mom passed away on Feb 21. I understand what you mean when you say Mom is at peace. I miss her so much, but it is a relief to not see her suffer any more. Believe me when I say, my thoughts are with you. - Heidi

I too took car of my Mom for 4 years. In her home 2500 miles from my husband and grown kids. It was hard to see her fade away. But, I will never forget those 4 years. We laughed so hard, went to the beach every 8 weeks and stayed for the weekends, and she would tell me about her childhood. It was the greatest time of my life. I'm am so thrilled that I was there for her. She was blessed to have you with her. And yes, your Mom and mine are at peace.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. My Mom has copd and severe emphysema. She has been given less than 6 months (in Dec). It is so hard to watch her decline, so I understand what you mean by Mom is at Peace. My thoughts are with you and you should be very proud of yourself for taking care of her!
