No true question but rather a discussion topic:
CNA's from two Nursing Homes run by big corporate are picketing this week for a well needed solution to understaffing and their severe lack of pay in relation to the work they are expected to perform and staff to patient ratios.
I truly feel this is necessary because the year my uncle has been in care the staff has been very underappreciated, understaffed and has a pay scale that compares to working a fast food restaurants with very high responsibilities for the pay grade.

Find Care & Housing
Yes, CNAs do all the dirty work and get nothing for it. In my State warehouses are going up all over. Target alone started out my GS at 22.50 and hour with regular raises and the abability to better himself. We have a shortage of aides, why? I think they are going to the warehouses. They work 10hrs a day 4 days a week. They aren't breaking their backs, cleaning up bodily functions and getting beat up by patients.

I honestly fear things will become a bit worse. I have read of late that corporations and hedgefunds are dumping extended care which they once hoped would be profitable. With inflationary times they are well aware they are NOT, and are jumping ship in great numbers. Along with no help they will soon have unaffordable food, to say nothing of the always onerous (if needed) rules.

My brother's WONDERFUL Pacifica Senior Living in Palm Springs and Hemet is now sold to something called The Cottages. I hope they are half as good. As an RN much was shared with me about the woes of any attempt to keep senior living good, with good care and good nutrition and good everything.

It will be interesting to watch, as changing times are always.
Picket lines show up when contracts are due. Whether they last past that time will remain to be seen.
Let us know if you speak with folks there.
Aging care is a vocation. When they are good they are Saints.
