Why would you stop PT? If it was ordered by a doctor there would be an evaluation before you started, goals would be set and your compliance would be essential for you to achieve the goals your situation indicates you are capable of achieving.

The guilt, if any, you should feel is for letting yourself down on not making as complete a recovery as possible.

It’s easy to misunderstand someone’s post without complete information. I’m sorry if I have misunderstood your question, but an aide to help you with your ADLs etc is not the same as PT.

Don’t give up on yourself. It is amazing how much a person can gain with PT. Talk to your therapist about where you are in your program, how much you have already gained and how much more you have to go before stopping your recovery efforts through PT. Wishing you courage and much success.

These are people who are providing care for a fee. They will adapt very well. Clearly attachments form while in care; however the professional will know how to end care and wish you well. Guilt is of course inappropriate. No one has caused any of these necessities. You fell ill and required hired care; they provided it. This is a service, not family. That you found people you are this fond of is a true blessing. Let them know this. Wish them well.
