This law is meant to protect seniors from Financial Exploitation but it somewhat gives the upper hand to the department of Aging and now this law is so bad that the department of Aging and the Adult Protective Services are under one roof. This law said that "Anyone who reports suspected abuse who is a staff member, doctor, nurse or other health professional has immunity weather the case results in prosecution or not." It also states that at any time for self neglect a senior or disabled individual can have a guardian appointed to their case by the courts and by the Department of Aging." This law is meant to bilk the seniors and the disabled people of their money. In Illinois there have been multiple instances where the guardian would take the money and not pay bills but put it in their own accounts. There are videos on you tube under National Association to Stop Guardian abuse about an elderly person having to go to a court appointed doctor to get evaluated because Department on Aging and the Guardian who wanted her in a facility would not take the word of her doctor. There is a website search term that you can look and find the website to see what is going on with legislation and guardian abuse and that is National Association to stop Guardian abuse look it up
