Can a caregiver get paid for caring for their aging parent?

Sissylove, the vast majority of grown children taking care of their parent(s) do not get paid.... unless the parent can pay you from their own retirement fund. So keep this in mind if you find yourself running into roadblocks :(

As golden23 had mentioned in her answer, there are other options, it depends if those options are available where you live.

It is the question asked most often on this site The short answer is yes if your state has a program to pay caregivers, but it is not much, and the other option of that a contract be drawn up so the parent(s) pay if they have the resources.
