Folks on this list might want to look for a new novel by Lisa Ridzen called “When the Cranes Fly South.” Translated from the Swedish, it is a deeply moving depiction of an 80-something man living alone with his dog as his health weakens. His adult son worries and tries to cope. I wasn’t sure I wanted to read it, but it was poignant, honest, and so relevant. Here’s my Goodreads review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/7787860745
Highly recommended. Set in Sweden, so resources, the healthcare system, etc. are quite different (we should all be so lucky), but the emotions and challenges ring true.
