I got this last night and it was so funny and I realized I had no friends who would understand it. then I thought, sure I do. I have this group. So, for nothing more than shared friendship, I offer this ditty:

I've sure gotten old!
I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement,
new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes.
I'm half blind,
can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine,
take 40 different medications that
make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts.
Have bouts with dementia.
Have poor circulation;
hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.
Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92.
Have lost all my friends. But, thank God,
I still have my driver's license.

my dad is 92. his drivers license expires in 2017. don't know if he'll be able to see by then. his keys "disappeared" when he went into ALF. his car is going to disappear too to help pay for ALF!

Hahaha! My mom is 81, just moved to a new state, and they gave her a TEN year license. Even SHE thought that was a bit nuts. Fortunately, her insurance company requires a physical. And of course, we are watching out for her too.

I'm not much of a YouTube watcher. Between full time job and then catching up on the different discussions on this site, and trying to squeeze in a few pages of my reading my books, I don't have enough hours to watch the latest YouTube videos.

I happened to be changing my dad's pamper in the morning before I go to work when I saw this on the HLN or Good Morning America show. As it was playing, I started laughing so hard, my dad got mad. He wanted me to concentrate on his pamper and not the TV.

When I saw this discussion about A Little Levity, I thought of these videos. If you google below - there is test drive 1 (where Jeff does a test drive on a car with the car salesman with him) and Test Drive 2 (where a journalist claimed it was a fake video - so Jeff pulled the prank on Him.) Of the 2, I liked part 2 best. For someone so terrified, he was still a very polite man! =)

Google: Pepsi Maxx & Jeff Gordon presents: “test drive”

sometimes finding the humor takes work, but doesn't it feel good when you do?

A little levity... I'm a terrible thrower. If I try to throw something to you, it never fails. It will fly left or right but Never straight to you and it always falls short of you. One day, my brother asked me to throw the keys to him. I was going to walk tohim and give it but he insisted that I throw it. I threw the keys, and bro just stood there waiting to see where it would fly. Whack! The keys hit him right in the chest. My brother had this shocked look in his face. Me, too! Then I started laughing so hard because he was expecting it fly left or right or in front of him.

So, when the guy 50 Cent threw the opening ball at the NY Mets game, and it went really wide to the left, I started laughing so hard while changing dad's pamper. Dad was mad at me because for the rest of the time changing his pamper, I kept laughing as I replayed 50 Cent's wild throw to the left.

It is true of my father as well. he still has his drivers license and for him that means a lot, even though he has no car and no keys. something about just having it. he pulls it out and looks at it, then puts it away again.

my dad's comment when I said you could kill yourself if you drove was "well, id die happy". wrong.. I just parked my car behind his so he couldn't get out. long enough so that he stopped fighting. my neighbor was ready to pull a plug in the engine if I had to move my car... but he finally stopped insisting....

LOL! Yes we get it! It's funny.

Unfortunately its also sad and true. My Grandfather killed himself, and a young Mother behind the wheel. We took Mom's car away a few yrs ago. It was a fight, but worth it.
